Whoa...The house smells really good. I just spent the last hour and half making a ton of lasagna so that we can have easy dinners on weeknights. Besides, lasagna gets better over time because all the flavors meld, mellow and mature. And I love to cook. It helps me relax from the day at work.
Alex's laptop died this morning. He dropped it last night and apparently the disk sector containing the Windows Registry got corrupted. I couldn't find the Windows XP installation disks for that computer (it's very old), so I ended up wiping it out and installing Windows 2000 on it. My office has a ton of Windows 2000 installation disks that nobody uses anymore so they were free for the taking. Yes it's a step backwards, but it comes up quicker and runs faster, and Alex doesn't play any special games that require XP, so it's good all around.
In AncientScripts land...I'm still working on the font for the Nabataean page. In case you're interested, the Nabataean script was the precursor to Arabic, somewhere intermediate between Aramaic and the early Kufic Arabic script. I've gotten requests for Hurrian and Urartian, but the only source with good information about them is the World's Writing System, which I don't have and costs a hefty $150. I guess I can drop by the Redwood City library to do some research the next time I go see my doctor, but it's a reference book there so I can't check it out. Darn.
Oh well...back to drawing squiggly Bezier curves and proofreading my wife's fictional account of Lady Wac Chanil, Princess of New Mutal and Queen Regent of Saal.

That's cool that when something happens to his laptop, you can fix it!!! *grins*
And lasagna ... yummy!!
I'm sure you can find some good deals on eBay for fully functional refurbished or slightly older models. It's buyer beware but the seller ratings on eBay really helps with trust. If you need help with specs you can always ask me.
